My sons school has a savings program where a local credit has opened accounts for those that are interested. Every Wednesday my son is able to make a deposit of as little as 0.25 and he gets a prize each time. This has helped him save every bit and not want to miss a week.ninajanke @ gmail.com

My 5 yr old niece has little chores she does around the house, and earns an allowance from us. She also does small odd jobs to help her earn extra money. She knows you have to have money to do almost anything, and that she must earn and save her money. All the money she earns right now goes into a small piggy bank in her room. And she only takes out the little bit that she needs and carries it in her wallet in her purse. She's really good about saving up her money, because she likes to be able to buy little gifts for people on her own at the holidays and birthdays. It makes her feel very grown up. She usually gets paid daily when she's with us, but sometimes we hold off on paying her allowance til the end of the week as well, and she's very good at keeping track of what we owe her at the end of the week lol.
