What Is Your Blueprint to Quit?

I am like many others out there, who have been able to successfully quit smoking. Now, for me, it was not so hard to do, but I was able to get the support that I needed in order to quit. I went from being a pack a day smoker, to completely smoke free in the matter of a few weeks. My biggest motivation was my kids. When I became pregnant with my daughter, I quit smoking, but as soon as I had her, I went right back to the habit. I used the stress from school and work as an excuse. Then a few years later my husband and I became pregnant again, again I quit, but after we lost our first born son, I used the grief as an excuse to start smoking again. It was not until we became pregnant with our son Robert, that I finally gave up on the habit and quit finding excuses on why I was smoking. When Robert was diagnosed with a lung disorder, I knew that in order to do what was right for him, I had to never turn back to smoking, and I was able to keep that goal. It was not a easy one because I still lived with a smoker. Grant you, my husband smoked outside and did not smoke around our son, but the fact was that he still smoked cigarettes. A year after Robert had been born, my husband who was only 31 at the time, had a mild heart attack. Scared the both of us to death, and when the doctors told him that his two pack a day addiction was playing a big role in his poor health, we knew that he would have to quit. It was not as easy for him as it was for me. In fact, when he first started to try and quit, I would catch him smoking, so I knew that he needed more than my emotional support, he needed medical support as well. When we went to his doctor to figure out the best option for him, we found that Nicotine Replacement Therapy would be the best route for him. And after six months of Nicotine Replacement Therapy, my husband was completely tobacco free and no longer had any cravings for a cigarette, and two years later, he has still not picked up a cigarette. We both know how difficult it can be to quit smoking, and that everyone is different when it comes to what they need in order to quit. Well to make the journey easier for others and to find the right path for them, the wonderful people at Walmart have come up with a program to help make quitting a easier journey. Their program is called Blueprint to Quit, and if you head on over to their Blueprint to Quit page, you can watch the video then decide which path is right for you, because we all know that quitting is what is best for everyone to live healthier lives!

It's definitely a bad habit to break. Both of my parents were smokers which made me never want to try a cigarette!

Congrats to your husband for quitting! And congrats to you for supporting him through that tough process. My mother was a long-time smoker and she is paying the price now. I'll be sending this Blueprint to Quit to all the smokers I know.

I'm sure it is hard for anyone to quit, but it is definitely worth it in the end. I'm sure you are a supportive wife.

Good job on quitting! My brother has tried and tried and he can't seem to kick it. I am going to direct him to this.
