One part of being an adult is learning
the art of gift giving, and yes, it
is an art! As a child, your role in the
gift-giving cycle is simply as the recipient of gifts, lavished on
you by adoring grandparents and older relatives and parents. When you
grow up, however, things come to be expected of, things like
participating in normal social rituals like gifting. We all know how
important giving gifts is in our social conventions. Can you imagine
a christmas without it? As a parent, you’re responsible for giving
gifts on behalf of your children as well, sometimes it can seem like
your kids have a classmate’s
birthday every single weekend.
The other problem with gift-giving is
that it can get routine and boring. Your recipient will be able to
tell when you have put no effort at all into your gift. I know men
who receive socks and hankies every single birthday and christmas. If
you’re going to give a gift, you may as well make it fun and
original! Try a hamper from Flowers
by Fruit– they won’t already have it and it’ll
be sure to put a smile on their face. Besides, it’s something that
the kids can enjoy too!
I don't look at gift giving as a ritual. I look at it as a way of expressing the love I have for another person. I try hard to find just the right gift, it can be hard, but it can be done.
The Neapolitan Berry Indulgence sure looks good to me, a bit expensive but looks great.
