The Emoji Movie

Family movie night is a fun night in my home where everyone gets excited to add some of their favorite shows and new movies that we come across. And like many kids, mine are always on the lookout for the newest must see movies to come to home video for us to share on family movie night. So when we were sent the new movie, The Emoji Movie on Blu-Ray to review, we were all excited to check it out and add it to our family movie night line up!

In The Emoji Movie, we get to view those fun emoji’s we use when we are texting others, in a whole new light. Bringing the emoji’s to life for audiences to enjoy as watch a world that is hidden within those texting apps that we use. The hidden world is called Textopolis, which is a city where those emoji’s we use live, all hoping to get used. The thing is, each of the emoji’s have only one facial expression, that is all except for Gene who is a emoji that was born without a filter, and finds himself with a variety of expressions. Even though most would think that unique is cool, Gene finds that he wants to be like the rest of the Emoji’s and goes on a mission with his friend Hi-5 and the code breaker emoji Jailbreak to find a code that will fix Gene and make him, “normal”. To take on this task the team goes through the apps on the phone in search of the code, but in their search they find that their world is in danger of being deleted and they must hurry to keep that from happening.

We found The Emoji Movie to be a great edition to our family movie night because along with the feature we also found all of the bonus features to be a lot of fun as well. These bonus features include tutorials on how to draw different emoji’s, fun dancing fun with the choreographing feature, and so much more! I think this movie looks a little silly, but I could see my daughter enjoying it when she is a little older!

This reminds me a bit of that animated movie where emotions were represented by characters in the child's head.
