Tandy Leathercraft Review

I love finding new art projects for my kids and for myself. I think exploring different crafts is great for anyone! My husband has always told me about leather crafting and how much fun it can be. I had not really explored leather crafting until I was sent some really great leather craft starter sets. Tandy Leather Factory is a company that I have heard of for leather crafting supplies, and I was so excited to try some leather crafting for myself. Since I am not a pro and just a beginner with the leather work, I had one of my husbands friends, who is a professional leather crafter, help me and show me some techniques with the products I received. I found out that there is a art to working with leather. I started out by just trying some of the stamps on some extra leather that he had. Then I went on to trying them on the wallet kit that was in the set. Then from there he showed me how to put the project together. Now there are instructions with this set and I did find them very easy to follow, I just found that having someone who does this as a regular hobby, very interesting to learn from!! Now putting my design on the leather for the wallet has taken some time, but I have found it to be a great outlet for me at the time!! I was able to practice a bit on some extra leather that my husbands friend had so I could kinda get a feel for what I am wanting to do. I have not gotten to the dying or lacing part, but I know that when I get there, I will enjoy that as well. I have laced together some leather crafts before, but I have never started with blank leather and had to design and dye it myself. I am going to have to say that I am really enjoying this project and in this particular kit there are other projects still awaiting me to conquer them. I love the selection of kits they have at the Tandy Leather Factory and the prices you will find on their site are also very nice and reasonable. I know that I do keep myself quite busy through out the day and I blog in the evenings, but in the afternoons and weekends when I get my quiet time, the leather crafting has been a great way to occupy myself! I think that if you are looking for a outlet of some sort, something new to do that is actually a lot of fun, then check out the leather crafting kits they have over at the Tandy Leather Factory and start a new hobby today!!
