I am one who enjoys a good bottle of wine. Whether it is with my husband, friends and family, or if it is used to cook with. I find that adding wine to a meal can make all the difference, from pairing with the right foods, to adding it to the recipe to give it that taste the dish is needing. In fact, adding wines to dishes is something I grew up with. I can remember some of my favorite dishes having wine added to the recipe, and those recipes are something I still enjoy cooking and serving to my own family. Recently I was sent a bottle of the Gallo Family Vineyards Hearty Burgundy to review. When I first got the bottle, and I tasted the burgundy, one particular recipe came to mind.

The recipe is one that my grandma used to make quite often, and since her passing years ago, my mom took on the role of preparing the same recipe, just as my grandmother made it. It was not until a few years ago, that I had decided that I would give the recipe a shot and try making it for my own family. The recipe is what we call, “Grandma’s Beef Burgundy”. This is a recipe that takes a lot of preparation, time and most of all, love! With that being said, the end result is amazing, it is one that has its own unique taste and quality to, and I found that adding the Gallo Family Vineyards Hearty Burgundy to the recipe, gave it that robust flavor that I can remember from when my own grandma made it.

To get started on preparing my Grandma’s Beef Burgundy, you are going to want to make sure you start early in the day due to the fact that it does take about 10 hours from start to finish, so by the time dinner rolls around, it will be fresh and ready to serve.

In the past, we have used different burgundies for this recipe, but it was not until I had used the Hearty Burgundy from the Gallo Family Vineyards, that I got that authentic taste that I can remember from the days when my grandma used to make this dish. We found that the burgundy can make all the difference. I also found, that serving a glass of the Gallo Family Vineyards Hearty Burgundy right before serving the food, made the whole experience of the dish really amazing! So if you are wanting to create a dish for your next dinner party, or even for a night in for your family, that will really make a great impression, then make Grandma’s Beef Burgundy and be sure to use the Gallo Family Vineyards Hearty Burgundy to ensure you get the full flavor that the recipe was intended for!
