Quitting Smoking

It has been a few years, but before I got pregnant with my son, I was a regular smoker. I smoked a pack a day, which now I look back at it and wonder how on earth could I afford to do something like that? I honestly dont know, and the fact of the matter is, I was not the only one in the house who smoked, my husband did too until a little over a year ago. I had quit smoking each time I found out I was pregnant to turn around and start smoking again after having the babies. I know when my husband and I had gotten pregnant with our first son, I had told myself that I would not start smoking again, but after loosing him in a still birth, I found cigarettes to be a outlet for me during that time. I look back on it now and I see that going back to smoking was a crutch, an excuse. A few months after our loss I got pregnant again with our son, and I quit smoking. When we found out that our son would have issues with his lungs and heart, I knew that there was no way I could go back to smoking after having him. For me, I found my will to be strong and I was able to do it on my own and not turn back, but I know that is not easy for most others to do. My husband had quite a time trying to quit. He stopped smoking after the doctors told us about our son’s medical condition, then towards the end of the pregnancy when things started to get really rough, he stressed a lot and began to smoke again and went to being a 2 pack a day smoker. Once our son was here, he was not allowed to smoke around him, the house and van were off limits and I would ask him to change his shirt before picking up our son due to the fact that even the smoke on his shirt could possibly cause issues with our son. My husband really struggled with quitting, he would cut down on cigarettes then slowly get back up to 2 packs a day. Because of this, we decided to turn to our family doctor. My husband wanted to quit, but like many others, it was easier said than done. After ending up in the hospital with a minor heart attack, we decided that there was no more waiting or putting it off. Our doctor told us about a few options that we could try, and one was Wellbutrin. After doing some research and talking to others, we decided to go with the Wellbutrin to aid my husband in his fight to quit smoking. True, Wellbutrin is a medication that is used to treat depression, but it can also be used to aid those in their journey to help them quit smoking cigarettes. My husband was able to quit this time around with success after only one month. He quit smoking in October of 2010 and has been with out a cigarette since. I feel that the Wellbutrin he was given helped, and he was able to kick the habit after just one month of using the medication. Today in our house, we are tobacco free, and I could not be more proud of my husband for taking the initiative and following through with it! You can also buy Wellbutrin online.

This was a paid post. I was compensated for my time and my opinions. All opinions are my own.
