Hosting a baby shower for your favorite gal’s new baby and you’re out of ideas? Here are some easy party snack recipes that you can mix and match for that baby shower.
Something Sweet
For a dash of sweetness to welcome the new baby’s arrival in a few weeks, slice a few strawberries, some watermelon, canned lychee, and some red grapes. Toss with the sweetened lychee juice and chill. It’s a pink concoction to welcome a sweet baby girl. Line a small plate with sweet macaroons that guests can nibble on while exchanging pregnancy stories and baby tips and tricks. Make little raisin tea sandwiches using thin slices of apple and white cheddar cheese between raisin bread slices. Cut the crust off, then cut into smaller quarters. Fill a small plate with various cookies and other sweet scones. Commission a baby-themed cake or a tray of cupcakes with little fondant baby figures. The soon-to-be mother is sure to gush into all the preparations you made for her baby shower.
Something Savory
Alternate some savory goodness with the sweet concoctions you prepared. Some pickles in a blanket of salami slices can be a nice change from all the sweet cookies and cakes. Some French-style sandwiches can add a bit of savory meat in to your spread. Spread a little bit of mustard on bread, top with prosciutto, ham, or salami, and cover with a blanket of Swiss cheese.
Dip the sandwich on a milk and egg concoction, then pan-fry in low heat. Serve while hot and toasty. Or you can go all out and skewer some chicken breast slices, grill in low heat, and serve with hot chili garlic peanut sauce or satay sauce. For a healthier option, slice some carrots, cucumbers, and celery. Make a bean dip using butterbeans, some mustard, some honey, salt, and pepper to taste. Enjoy while chilled.
Drinks and Mocktails
Sweets and savory dishes are served but you have no idea for drinks? Skip the soda and indulge in some of these “mocktails” for the baby shower. Make a fruit punch using pineapple juice, apple juice, and pomelo juice. Garnish with sliced lemons and diced watermelons, melons, and apples. Chill before serving. Go with a slightly Mexican theme and serve some Cucumber Melon Aqua Fresca. It is a refreshing drink made from watermelon and cucumbers. Serve iced and garnish with lemon slice. For a baby boy-themed baby shower, combine sliced frozen bananas and blueberries and orange juice for that blue smoothie. You may also serve iced tea or even hot tea depending on the scones and biscuits you served. However, to up the ante, serve a Sun Tea Punch. Combine some cold tea with fresh orange slices and top with a couple of mint leaves for that extra zest. Serve in cute mason jars decorated by a dainty ribbon around its neck. These mason jars can double as party giveaways for the guests. These drink concoctions are healthy and fresh, suitable for the mother-to-be and the kids that the guests may bring.
I love these ideas! I'm gathering all kinds of ideas for my friends second baby (she never got a shower for her first).
These are really great tips and ideas! I love more unique items like this than the typical stuff you see at baby showers.
