If you are like us, your TV viewing these days seems driven by the kids’ preference more than your own. So we have had our share of animated princesses, animals, cars, ninjas or robots to suffer through. Occasionally, we do come across shows that can be surprisingly fun to watch for both adults and kids alike. Nickelodeon’s PAW Patrol, the adventures of the Paw-sum group of rescue pups, is always one of those shows. From its catchy theme song to the cute dogs working together to help their friends, there is a lot to like about the show. Recently, we had the opportunity to sit down with our kids to watch a special advance copy of the PAW Patrol mini-movie PAW Patrol: Mighty Pups and we all wholeheartedly gave it two thumbs (paws?) up!
We have been big fans of Paw Patrol for the last few years, but for those new to the show, “the plucky pups of PAW Patrol are rescue dogs in training”, led by Ryder, a precocious 10-year old. The pups each bring their special skills, gear and vehicles (inspired by real-world jobs like a firefighter, aviator, police officer, etc) to help their friends in Adventure Bay. Our kids each have their favorite characters – currently, Chase (police dog) and Skye (aviator) are the tops in our house!
The PAW Patrol: Mighty Pups mini-movie dials up the fun by adding a dash of superhero powers to the usual paw-some formula for an awesome adventure. When a mysterious meteor lands in Adventure Bay, the PAW Patrol pups gain new (and mighty) powers that come in handy when the dastardly Mayor Humdinger and his nephew plan to steal the meteor. It’s no surprise that the pups save the day in the end, but it does take teamwork and friendship, in addition to the mighty powers, to make it happen. Any movie where both our kids proclaim how ‘cool’ the movie was during and after the movie and how they both liked it a lot, definitely finds a place on our “recommend” list.
Since the movie is made-for-TV, its running length is a very palatable 44 mins. Ahead of its TV debut, the movie will be available on DVD on September 11 exclusively at Walmart, along with a digital copy on Vudu.
We are excited to partner with Nickelodeon to offer our readers an opportunity to win a copy of the PAW Patrol: Mighty Pups DVD by entering in the giveaway below:
Product received, thank you to Nickelodeon, Paramount Home Media Distribution and PR for supplying us with a product for this review and giveaway, all opinions are our own.
