I am a mom, a mom of many faces, words and phrases. It seems as though I go through each day learning the meaning of what another mom may have told me or of what I might have heard at one time or another. With kids, I have found that I am never too surprised. With my first kid, yes, I was shocked, shocked when I woke to poo all over the wall behind the crib, with a innocent looking baby looking up at me covered in the nasty mess with a grin on her face. I was shocked when we went to potty train my son and I learned that boys and girls are way different when it comes to potty training and that, yes, they can literally loose control at any give moment and leave a wonderful mess in the matter of seconds for mom to clean up. With my daughter, I did find it shocking to walk out to the hall to put some things up and leave her to color alone, only to walk in just two minutes later to find the entire wall covered in crayon. So when Robert came along, I was very cautious, but he was sneaky. I only allowed coloring at the table or during art time with supervision, little did I know that if I looked away, my sweet little boy would put crayons in his pants to smuggle away so that he could later create master pieces in his room. I can remember the first time I caught him, I did not actually catch him in the act. He came to me and wanted to show me something, something that he was so proud of doing that it could not wait. So, I followed my toddler into his room, where he turns to me with the biggest smile on his face and says, “Mom, look, I made you a dinosaur!!”. I did not want to hurt his feelings, but at the same time, I did not want him to think that drawing all over his wall was a good thing, I was at a loss. On one hand, he had done a fairly good job at drawing a dinosaur for me, on the other hand, what a bad little boy, right? Well, I explained to him that mommy would prefer her pictures be on paper and not on the walls, and that drawing on the walls was not a good thing. Unfortunately for me, my little Picasso did not see the wrong in this and it was not until this last year that we finally got him out of the coloring on the walls. The coloring on the walls is not the worst part of it all, have you ever tried to get crayon off of the walls??? It is like trying to perform a exorcism, you scrub, thinking that it is all gone to go back and still find that there is still some of that wax there, and you can still see where they colored, I have found it to be a total nightmare!! I went searching for a product that would help and when I started using the Clorox Cleanup or the Clorox Wipes, I found that they not only got rid of the color, but they also got rid of the wax trail that had been left behind from previous masterpieces. So when I found out about the new Clorox Icktionary, I knew that I had a word that a lot of parents and caregivers out there could relate to. The word I chose to add to the Clorox Icktionary is Crexocism, which means: The exorcism of crayon art on your walls and furniture when son or daughter believes they are Picasso. I also found it fun after creating my own word to submit to the Icktionary, to look over the other words on there then laugh, because I can totally relate to some of those words and definitions, they happen and with kids, they happen more often than some of us would like to admit to! Another great feature about the Clorox Icktionary is, those messes that now have words to describe them, well, I can find the products that will help me clean them up with and I can get a coupon for 75 cents off to get the cleaning products I need to get those messes taken care of!!
Plus if you don't get all the crayon off before you repaint, the new paint won't stick to that spot.
What a story and great word you came up with. Not sure why kids feel it's the greatest thing to write on walls. I kind of liked that chalkboard stuff you can now put on walls since they love it so much.I love clorox wipes, have one on my counter at all times and go through so many daily.
My daughter took markers and drew on her bedroom walls when she was about 5 or 6. I was so mad! It stayed there for years until we finally repainted.
in "ick-tionary" what a super cute idea! made me chuckle before work with morning! loving your "Crexocism"
