My trip to Denver was very nice. I was able to meet some very nice people, I enjoyed making new friends with some new bloggers. The kids in the competition were great they all seemed to really enjoy themselves, each one of the burgers they presented were of great quality. Every one of the children did a very good job, they were a lot braver than I would’ve been. Having to get up in front of all those people and not only present their burgers but give a speech took a lot of bravery. I was very proud of every single one of the children. I will get up more about the competition in a later post. On another note, my experience in the Denver airport on the way home was very interesting and quite humiliating. I have heard about the new body scanners that they require people to go through at the airports in, and I had no objections to complying. I did read up on the body scanners before heading on to my trip. From what I have read and what I have learned about the body scanners is that they are very intrusive and they are able to see all the way to your insides. Even though I know what I know about the scanners, I was still compliant. I went through the scanner like everyone else at the airport. After going through scanner I was asked to step aside. I was then subjected to what I consider a gross violation of my civil rights. I was molested by a TSA thug. I was pulled aside in front of everybody there at the airport and was then groped. This TSA agent not only groped me in my private areas but lifted up my shirt then looked down my underwear in front of everybody where everybody was able to see what was happening. I have never been so humiliated in my entire life. Before I left for my trip, I did some research on the new body scanners I was curious to know what they did and what they were for after hearing different opinions about them in the news. And after reading about them on the TSA website, I was to think that we had a choice on whether or not we had to go through these body scanners. I understood that if a person refused to go through the body scanner they were subject to a search. I was not given the choice whether to go through a body scanner or a metal detector. I went through the body scanner as directed and I did not say anything, I was being very cooperative. I took off all of my jewelry and I emptied my pockets. Beside that, these body scanners were built so they could see everything. If they can see through your clothes and into your body, what was missed for them to do this to me? Why? Why did they do this to me? Not only have my rights been violated as US citizen but I have also been violated as a human being. I wanted to cry. I was not given a reason why I had to be patted down or rather felt up. I was told to be quiet and let them do their job. I wish I knew why they did this to me.
Wow I cannot believe that! What an outrage! If I were you I would file a complaint with everyone and everything at that airport, that is criminal! Its also very disturbing because I live in Denver and will have to go through that airport security to fly anywhere.
It was horrible. What I dont understand is why I was searched after going through that invasive body scan. I called my husband right after as I walked away and just cried. I was still shaking when I boarded the plane. I have heard of pat downs, but this was them groping me, looking down my under ware. What was the reason for that? I had planned on doing some posts but I am still quite upset and I will get back to writing tomorrow.

Thank you Wimpie! I will write everyone in the morning. I just dont understand why they would do this. And not in private, in front of everyone that was going through the scans. I got in the machine, put my arms up like the picture illustrated and waited until they told me to come out. They told me that they were going to feel me up, they told me that they had to look in my under ware. They told me that they had to rub my boobs. I felt like I was being processed like a prisoner. The only thing they did not ask was for me to bend over and cough.

Oh I know. I was in such good spirits. I had just met up with my sister in law and saw my niece at the airport, right after leaving the hotel. I was so excited to get home to my husband and kids and tell them all about Denver and the competition. I still feel shaken up this am. Just thinking about this is making me sick to my stomach, literally. I had to pull up my shirt in front of everyone so they could look down my under pants, then just allow them to grope me in my private areas and rub my boobs, which I still dont understand, I honestly feel so dirty.
Hey Katie! Very nice to meet you at the Red Robin championship as well. But I have to tell you, I went through the same experience at the Denver airport! They didn't even have me go through the regular scanner. I was told to go in the body scanner first and then I still had to be patted down. All I was told was, it was because of my bulky sweater and that it was glittery, so they couldn't see??? I didn't have anything on me, not even in my pockets and I still had to do it. I still don't understand why! And it was VERY humiliating!!!
Oh, no- I am so sorry you guys had to go through that. Kristin, Jackie and I went through security together and didn't have any issues. Ugh.

Oh my goodness, Katie, that is beyond awful. I had heard about how they were doing this & it's so wrong. If it were anyone but a government official – it would be ILLEGAL! No, in fact, if a cop did this – they would be sued like crazy! Only the TSA is allowed to get away this and it's not right. I am so sorry. Sending lots of hugs your way! ((HUGS)) And I have to say I'm glad I'm not planning on flying anytime soon, the thought of all that just horrifies me! 🙁

Wow, what a horrible experience to shake up an otherwise good time. I'm sorry that happened to you. I have to agree, it would be illegal if anyone else did it. Not sure why they are allowed to.
