For many people around the country, the holiday season (or at least the holiday shopping season) starts with Thanksgiving. We tend to take a more generous view in our household and start getting in the holiday ‘spirit’ right around Halloween time. Not many people know that Halloween is one of the spendiest holidays during the year, with all of us spending close to $8 billion each year on costumes, candies, and decorations. One can only imagine the total amount of sugar consumed on and after Halloween, but we are guessing it is a lot.
Speaking of sugar and candy, we all remember from our childhood the one house on the block that always had the best candy, and by best we mean something different than what everyone else had. The traditional favorites have always been some variety of chocolate, of which there are literally hundreds of options available. However, for those looking for something different, one good option to consider is Welch’s Fruit Snacks. These small, rich fruit-flavored, squishy snacks are very popular around our house year round, with our youngest having traded chocolates and cakes of various sorts to get his hands on these fruit snacks. We also always make sure to have Welch’s Fruit Snacks in the collection of treats we offer tricksters visiting our house on Halloween, especially since they are one of the best options for kids that need to avoid gluten, dairy or nuts.
Now just in time for Halloween, and only till November 1st, these fruit snacks are also available in Halloween-themed box and pouches that have custom graphics with fun shapes including a bat, witch, ghost, haunted castle, and pumpkin – perfect for trick or treating, lunchbox treats or parties. You can easily find the Welch’s Halloween Fruit Snacks nationwide at Walmart, Target, Walgreens, Dollar General or online at Boxed.com.
The makers of the Welch’s Fruit Snacks claim that fruit is the first ingredient, so we checked on the box and yes fruit puree is indeed the first ingredient. While it is not very low on sugar, it wouldn’t really be a Halloween giveaway if it didn’t have high sugar content. The one thing that we were pleasantly surprised to see was that each pouch contains a pretty high amount of Vitamin C as well. That doesn’t make it healthy in any way but surely doesn’t hurt at all.
We are excited to partner with the makers of Welch’s Fruit Snacks to offer 4 boxes of the traditional Fruit Snacks (not the Halloween-themed boxes, unfortunately, for which you will have to make a trip to the store) as a giveaway to one of our readers through the giveaway box below:
Product received, thank you to Welch’s Fruit Snacks as well as the PR for supplying us with a product for this review, all opinions are our own.
