With the new school year just around the corner for my kids, I find that even though they are excited about the new school year, they are also nervous. There are many reasons that make them nervous, from the new friends they will make, the new teachers they will get, to something that my daughter is nervous about, bullies. Unfortunately, when my daughter is at school, I can not be there by her side, to protect her, and unfortunately for her, she has experienced the wrath of a bully.
Estrella is very nervous about encountering a girl at her school. This girl put her through a lot, calling her names, pushing her around, and even stealing from her, and as a parent, I wish there was more I could do while she is in school. We had issues with the bully policies at the school, the fact that this girl got away with a lot, pushing my daughter, sending her home crying after humiliating her in front of her peers, and when my daughter went to the teachers, they did nothing unless they saw it or heard it themselves.
The issue is a very real one, and one that many parents know all too well, when their own kids come home crying, and do not want to go back to school, all because of a bully. Well, aside from raising the issue among Estrella, her friends, their parents, and the teachers this year, Estrella will also be heading back to school this year, with some Anti Bully Bracelets. These bracelets can be found at JCPenney, and they are meant to help raise awareness, and to bring a stop to bullying. They are stylish, and are not only great to get the kids to wear, but as Estrella see’s it, since she received a few packs, she can share them with her friends to also wear to school this year, in hopes of making a difference, and stopping the bullies at her school!
To help with making a stand against bullies, the wonderful people from Compassion Brands would like to give one of my readers their own Anti Bully bracelets as well!
Product received, thank you to Compassion Brands for supplying me with a product for this review, all opinions are my own.
I share your sentiments in wishing that we could be there to do more for our children, as mine too have been victims of bullying. It is important to have an active role in your child's day to day activities and to be aware of any non-verbal cues they may be broadcasting, as I've found with my children that they older they get the less than want to talk about the bullying that is occurring.
