Over the past year, one thing that I have made a change in, that was actually a lot easier for me than I had thought was, giving up the diet sodas and drinking more water. It is something I had tried in the past, but could not stick to, and now that it has been a year since I had my last diet soda, I am pretty proud of myself.
Like many out there who drink a lot of water, I found myself spending a lot money on those packages of bottled waters. I mean, I would go through several cases of water each month. Not only did I see this as a issue when it came to the money I was spending on the bottled water packs alone, but I know that when it comes to my carbon foot print, I was not contributing to making a difference since I was going through those plastic water bottles like crazy.

I found that in just one month, I have been able to not only reduce the amount of trash we have in our home, but I have also been able to save a lot of money, since I can use my own jugs to put water in, and I can go to my local grocer and fill the jugs, for just about a dollar each time! I also like that I can purchase new water jugs at the store and use them over and over again, putting the jugs I buy to use and not wasting them. I like that I can use 2, 3, or 5 gallon bottles of water, so I can be sure to always have fresh water when I want it!
Aside from the amazing aspect of no longer wasting plastic water bottles, and also saving my family a lot of money when it comes to drinking water, we all like that we can choose the water temps, from the hot water for when we want some hot tea, room temp, and cold water, which is such a great refreshment to have on these hot summer days! Another great plus is that now we have our own water dispenser, the kids are drinking more water as well.
