When I think back on my childhood and think about toys that I used to play with, I think of Etch-A-Sketch. I remember spending time trying to make the perfect picture. Sitting with my friends and writing silly words and phrases to each other on our Etch-A-Sketches. When I was a kid, we didnt have video games to play in the car when going somewhere. We either played games with each other or we would play with our Etch-A-Sketch to help pass the time. I love that this classic toy has lasted through the years and still remains the Worlds top drawing toy. It is awesome to be able to share one of my all time favorite childhood toys with my kids. I have been given a Etch-A-Sketch to review and to share with my kids from the wonderful people at Ohio Art. I have also been given the chance to give one Etch-A-Sketch, courtesy of Ohio Art, to one of my readers.

I grew up on a street with all boys. Our favorite pass-time was to play baseball in the wheat field across the street. I definitely wore my etch-a-sketch out as a kid, but my favorite toys were definitely my barbies. I remember when I was 4 I got the chicken pox and my mom let me draw little dots all over all of my barbies with a Sharpie pen so they could have chicken pox too!!!

I guess it's a funny memory in a way. I remember when Thumblina Baby Doll came out & I got her for Christmas & my dad says watch what she does (she was the first doll to move) and he wound her up and she started to move & I threw the doll & never played with her – she scared me half to death. LOL Rotten joke to play on a kid. Sheesh!

My favorite childhood memory is getting up at dawn at my grandma's house, so I could quietly get down a book from her wonderful collection of fairy tales and curl up in her great big arm chair and read about far away places. I'd wait for the sound of my grandma's old metal curtain rings being thrown back on their rod, knowing that she was only moments away from coming down the hall and joining me. She'd always greet me with a smile as she started the coffee in her ancient percolator, and then I'd tell her all about the wonderful stories I'd read. Spending Christmas Eve at my aunt's house. The tree always seemed gigantic (Like the tree in The Nutcracker ballet); and my aunt and uncle always encouraged us to be creative. We would write holiday skits, sing songs and make snowflakes. Those memories will stay with me always!
