Dixon Products vs The Other Brands: What Is The Better Quality When Shopping For Supplies For Your Kids

I am sure that with all of the back to school shopping you may have done, you come to that decision, on which brand of products you want to go with. There are many to choose from, and with the lists for supplies, there are quite a bit of products to be bought. I know that when my kids headed back to school, I wanted to make sure that they had the supplies that would best aid them while they are in class. Some of the products that were on both of my kids lists this year included, markers and colored pencils. Well, with the all of the brands to choose from, how to you know which one is best to go with? Recently I was sent a box of products from Prang. In this box, there was not just the Prang products, there were also the competitions products in the box. Now when it comes to the watercolors, my kids may not need them for school, but we use them at home on the weekends to keep busy. One of the things that really stood out with the watercolors was that the Prang brand of colors was a softer paint, as far as when we went to use them, they were able to be used with less amount of water on the brush, which also made it for bolder and brighter colors on the paper. With the other brand, it was, well watery, due to the fact that when I went to get a fair amount of color on the brush I had to use more water, and the color was not as bold. I also found the brush to be of a lot better quality then the other brand.

When it came to the markers, I did not notice much of a difference in the colors, but when I was looking at the boxes, the Prang markers have 12 instead of your average 10 that are in the other boxes, and the Prang Markers can last longer after the cap has been left off for a long period of time, compared to the other brand where the marker did not mark with as much boldness after having the cap off for the same amount of time. When it came to the colored pencils, well, there was not a difference in the color quality, but with the triangular pencil, I noticed that it was a lot easier to use, and after long use your fingers do not hurt. I did like that they were also wider with the grip, which makes a difference when coloring. So, when you are looking for art supplies, whether they are for the kids at school or for home use, take into consideration the differences that the different brands have. I personally saw more positives when it came to comparing the brands, and the watercolors from Prang were the big winner in this one as far as the biggest difference between brands.

This was not a paid post and honest/original opinions were used and they are my own. Thank you to the company and/or pr agency who supplied the product for review.

Great review comparing the two brands. I honestly thought the Prang products were inferior, I will have to consider these the next time I need to get supplies for my son. The difference in the watercolors is easy to see.
