You remember your favorite books as a kid and if you are a parent or grandparent, then you know how it feels to share those favorite childhood books with your own little ones! I love to watch my kids faces light up when I read some of my favorite stories to them and research shows that reading to your kids helps them succeed academically, but the thing is about 60% of children in low income homes do not have any books in their homes. Capital One and The Heart of America Foundation are working to change that with their new campaign, Book by Book. From October 15 – November 15, the public can vote for their favorite children’s books online to help determine which books will be gifted to some very deserving kids across the country. In addition, Capital One will donate one book for every new fan of their Investing for Good Facebook page…with the goal of donating 50,000 books. So head on over to the Capital One Investing for Good page and vote for your favorites, also like their Facebook page and share this with your friends and family so that they can get books in the homes of those who really need them!!!
Thanks for telling about this. I remember the Kissing Hand. Although my youngest doesn't go to school, she still wants a kissing hand sometimes.Laura
We have all of these in our home library! Nothing like passing onto your kids what you enjoyed at their age. We sprnikle in a few new books every so often as well, most recently A Mango in the Hand by Antonio Sacre. It's a fun book writtin in proverbs which generates quite the conversations every time we read it. If you want to check it out we found it at antoniosacre.com. Thanks again for putting this list up and taking me back to "the old days" as my kids say!
I think this is a wonderful program. I liked them on facebook and picked my favorite books. The Kissing Hand is one of the best! jj250@aol.com
