Back to School with Heelys

Lately we have been in full swing for the back to school shopping mode. We have taken the kids to get supplies, clothing, and shoes, and one thing that seems to be getting more and more difficult is finding my daughter shoes. She is getting older and she is getting more particular about the clothing and shoes she wears. One of the items that she really wanted this year were some Heelys. She has had her eyes on them for some time and we had told her that we would get her a pair for school this year. So when I was given the chance to review some Heelys, I knew that this would be perfect. Not only could I review some really neat shoes that all of the kids just love, but my daughter would get the shoes she wanted for school this year. When we went on the Heelys shop site to order, my daughter instantly fell in love with the Sparkler Heelys. She really liked the pink and black ones. She loved the metallic tones and the jewel accents, right up her alley!! These Heelys also have two sets of wheels on them, which is perfect for her!!! When the shoes arrived, my daughter was so ready to try them out. Since these are Velcro we did not have to bother with the lacing. We took the wheels out of the package they came in and we put them in the brackets, then hit them to get them in place, which was not hard at all! Once the wheels were in, my daughter was ready to go. I think they were much easier to use than we all had originally thought. She was able to skate around our driveway and on the sidewalks. The first couple of times she went out, she was a little scared and did not attempt to go very far or very fast, but once she got comfortable she was a pro!! Once she was done, it was not very hard at all to remove the wheels from her shoes. We just pressed down on the soles around where the wheels were, and the wheels came out one side then we did the same to the other side of the wheel and took the wheels out and put them up for the next time!! Then we put the plugs on the wheel wells which just went right into place, then when she was ready to put the wheels on again we took out the red tool that came with the wheels and we were able to take off the wheel covers by putting the tool just under the plugs! The Heelys are great and even though she cant have the wheel part at school, they make for great sneakers that she can wear to school, then when she gets home and is ready to play with her friends, she can easily put the wheels back in then take them out once she is done playing!!
