We’ve been so impressed with the recent transformation of our 7 year old son into an inquisitive adventurer! Suddenly this summer, the reluctant joiner has become an enthusiastic thrill-seeker! On a recent outing to an amusement center, he cajoled the family into at least six laser tag battles (contrasting with his first try at attending a laser tag birthday party six months ago, which had him in tears and refusing to even gear up).
His newfound spirit of adventure was on display a few weekends ago when we attended the local Firefighter Combat Challenge. This is an awesome event that showcases the American Fire Service while at the same time promoting physical fitness. After watching a number of firefighters run the ‘toughest two minutes in sports’ in full turnout gear, our own Mr. Incredible was ready to try the Kids’ Challenge. Wow! He did great and loved trying it!
And speaking of Mr. Incredible, our kids have been obsessed since watching the new Incredibles 2 movie the very day it came out in June. Maybe that has inspired our little hero to explore his own superpowers a bit?! We were lucky enough to receive a family “Find Your Special Powers Kit” in advance of the film and the whole family had a great night of masked fun at our local movie theatre.
The boys loved watching the Parr family’s adventures (and of course “Dash” has moved into lead position for Halloween costumes this year!).
