With
Spring Break right around the corner, it is time to make plans and
figure out how you will be spending your time. For many, there will
be the cost of road trips, flights, and other vacation amenities. For
others, a staycation will serve as their Spring Break. Over the
years, I have taken turns planning a vacation for Spring Break one
year and a staycation the next. Either way I choose to go, I make
sure I cover the basics when it comes to cost.
In
our house, we have two kids in school as well as my husband who is in
school, so finding ways to keep everyone from getting bored over
break time as well as finding ways to save money while everyone is
home is ideal. When we choose the staycation, I find ways to make it
fun and interesting by looking up local attractions as well as
family-friendly activities that are nearby. There are plenty of
things we can all do, such as planning a family movie day by renting
great movies we would all like to watch, or by looking at the local
show times and planning a trip to the movie theater.
When
it comes to planning a trip to the movie theater, I like to plan
ahead. One way I do this is by visiting ShopDiscover,
Discover’s exclusive shopping portal where I can earn Cashback
Bonus
when
I buy my tickets using websites such as Fandago. When the rewards add
up, I can take my Cashback Bonus and turn it in for partner
gift cards
to more than 150 popular merchants, so that we can plan a family
dinner out as an added bonus!
There
are so many options when it comes to planning a staycation, and one
thing I have found is that I can save money during a staycation by
planning our week ahead. I can research the costs for the different
attractions, activities, and food, making it easier to enjoy our time
at home together!
So this
year, while you are trying to figure out what you will be doing with
the kids while they are home for Spring Break, get your calendar out
and start filling in the spots with activities so you can make the
most of your staycation and not go overboard on spending. Also, be
sure to take advantage of the Discover cardmember benefits, such as
the opportunity to earn 5% Cashback Bonus at restaurants and movies
until March 31, as well as checking out ShopDiscover.com to earn
Cashback Bonus through a number of merchants!

This will be my first time having a "spring break" my son is now in school and I don't think he will know what to do with himself without school. I need to be sure to plan some fun things. We will be having a staycation this year 🙂 IT will be a fun time to do some of those things we r just too busy to do. We are in the Chicago suburbs so we have lots of great museums and what not to check out!
