Like many moms out there, I am a mom who is constantly on the go. From taking and picking up the kids from school, to grocery shopping, cleaning, running household errands then taking the kids around to their after school activities and even planning play dates for Wyatt in there. With the Fall season officially upon us, I have found that there is no pause button, I mean, it was just a couple of months ago that I was out doing all of the back to school shopping for the kids, now I have to go out and stock up on all of the clothes for the cooler weather for the entire family. Aside from that, there are the grocery bills and gas that I use weekly, and with the holidays quickly approaching, I know that many parents out there, feel as if they can not seem to get a break. Well, I have learned, being on a budget, that there are certain things that can be done to help make things run smoother when it comes to the money we spend. For example, when I know I will be out for most of the day, then picking the kids up from school when it is time, I plan to pack away snacks and even lunch for Wyatt and I in the diaper bag, That way, instead of spending more money on fast food, I can save that money for other expenses. Also when the kids get out of school and we are headed to practice, I do not have to stop at a convenience store and spend more money on snacks. I try to keep on top of those things, especially when I am at a Dr’s office, instead of putting money into the vending machine, I can pull out a snack container of much healthier food from home, and satisfy, Wyatt’s or my own hunger.

Then there comes the issue that a lot of us face, the whole issue on gas. I mean, we need it when we are driving around town, and even with the little discounts that some competitive gas stations offer, the prices are still quite high. That is why, with us being on a budget, I try everything to save money, even when it comes to saving money on the gas we use. I have found that even some of the local grocery stores, which have pumps outside, have some great ways to save on gas. Like my neighborhood grocer, when I spend so much in store, I get a discount at the pump, which I take full advantage of. Also, arranging car pools for the kids when I can, is also something I look forward to. Another thing that I do, when I know I have to go across town, is make a list of everything I might have to do on the other side of town, and get it all done at once. Like when we schedule Dr’s appointments, I try to get everyone in at once, that way I am not making more than one trip to that part of town if I do not have to!

Being the frugal mom that I am, I look into every possible saving method I can find. Like, aside from the coupons that I get and collect to save money at the stores, I also look into the different credit cards that are out there. I know that years ago, before kids, I did not really care about the different things that came along with a credit card. I just wanted one so I could use it when needed. But with a family, well, things are a lot different. I mean, when my husband decided to go back to school, we knew that we would have to budget and make some sacrifices, but we also knew that we would need to start being more cautious and more aware of what we spent and how we spent. I found right away, that we did not have to sacrifice a whole lot, with using the coupons and savings codes as well as the apps. I also found that getting the credit card that had one of the best cash back offers for its customers, was what we needed. So, when I started looking around, and I found that Discover offers their customers great incentives, like the 5% Cashback Bonus program that its members can get when they enroll for the month of September, I knew that I had found the card for our family. I mean, for the month of September alone, when I look back on all of the expenses, like the school shopping, then the fall wardrobe for the entire family and money spent at the pump as well as our other monthly expenses, knowing that I can earn 5% Cashback Bonus, well that is too good of a deal to pass up. Especially keeping in mind that the 5% that I get back, up to $1,500 on purchases, can be used towards that holiday shopping, which is just around the corner! So if you are a savvy mom or dad, and you are in search of ways that you can save money for your family, then look into becoming a member of the Discover family, and sign up for your Discover Card today, so you can start earning that 5% cash back right away!!

You really do have to check out credit card offers and find out what they offer. Some offer better perks than others.
