Express Yourself with the Picture My IBS Contest

When it comes to our bodies, both the inside and out, we find that every body is different and how we interpret different ailments can also vary from person to person. This is because we are created to be different, and with that we find that when certain ailments arise, that we might not have words to describe what we might be feeling, making it to where trying to express how we feel to our doctors can be a lot easier said than done. I know this because when it comes to Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) and how it can effect daily life, that someone close to me who has dealt with IBS over the past several years, still finds that it can be a difficult subject to talk about and even explain to others. I also learned that through personal experiences as well as the information provided to me for this sponsored post, that when it comes to the discussion of IBS, it has been found in a survey conducted with those with IBS, to be a very hard subject to discuss with a Dr, even harder than discussing STD’s. So when I was asked to create content about the Picture My IBS contest where those who suffer or are close to those who suffer from IBS, can express their own journey with IBS through art, I was excited to share the information given to me on behalf of the Picture My IBS initiative for this post, with both my loved one as well as others who have IBS too.

See with the Picture my IBS Contest, you can not only share how you see IBS and how it might affect your life and or the life of your loved ones, but also enter your art for a chance to win one of 3 amazing prizes. The prizes include a grand prize trip for 2 to New York City, luxury hotel and spa accommodations, and more! There will also be 5 other prizes of $100 gift cards awarded and those winners will also get honorable mentions of their artwork.

Creating a piece and entering your piece is also fairly simple. Like for my submission, I found that creating a graphic piece can help my loved one to explain how IBS effects them and even others close to them when it comes to daily life.

Keeping the idea of always needing to know where the closest restroom is in mind, and knowing that those pleasures such as hiking, going on a water adventure, seeing a movie, or making other plans can be a luxury that IBS suffers can not enjoy to the fullest. Which is what makes this initiative that was put together by The American College of Gastroenterology (ACG) in collaboration with Allergan and Ironwood Pharmaceuticals, one that can help to make a difference and make the communication between IBS patients and their doctors, a little easier and also show those with IBS that they are not alone. Making this contest one that allows patients, doctors and those close to someone with IBS, have a better understanding and find ways to make living with IBS something that is easier to discuss.

So if you or someone close to you suffers from IBS, be sure to check out the Picture My IBS Contest and express yourself through art!
