With the holiday season coming up, I find that we enjoy seeking out those family friendly shows and movies to add to our lists of family movie night favorites. So when we were sent a selection of family friendly shows on DVD, the kids and I were excited to check them out and add to our list of shows to watch during our family movie nights this season!
To get started, we found the DVD, Caillou the Courageous to be a great addition to add to our collection of Caillou DVDs! In this DVD we get 60 minutes of shows to watch that are about facing those fears and finding that not everything is as scary as we might think. The episodes include the following:
“Caillou Climbs”
Mommy takes Caillou and Clementine to an indoor rock climbing wall, but Caillou doesn’t want to give it a try. It’s much too intimidating! Caillou overcomes his fear by literally taking things one step at a time.
“The Spider Issue”
After looking at a spider alien comic book with his older pal, Andre, Caillou becomes afraid of spiders. He’s nervous around the house, until Daddy tells him some spider facts and shows him how cool spiders can really be…and Caillou has to agree; they ARE pretty cool!
“Caillou Roller Skates”
Caillou wants to learn how to roller skate…until he realizes roller skating is very difficult. With a little help and guidance from his friend, Daniel, Caillou decides to keep practicing, so his skills will improve – just like Daniel’s did!
“Caillou’s Shadow”
Caillou likes it when Miss Martin calls him a “shadow scientist”…so much so, he’s afraid to admit he doesn’t know everything about shadows. When Caillou’s curiosity gets the better of him, he learns it’s much easier to find the answers you’re looking for when you ask questions.
“Say Lettuce!”
Caillou wants to take a picture of a bunny rabbit in Grandma’s garden, but it proves a harder task then he originally thought. With a little perseverance (and a little lettuce from the garden) he finally sees the task through to the end – and gets a photo he’s proud of!
“You’re Not Miss Martin!”
Caillou isn’t too happy when Miss Martin is away and his preschool class has a substitute teacher – Mrs. Shelley. She does everything differently and isn’t familiar with the usual routines. When Caillou tries to see things from Mrs. Shelley’s perspective, he decides to give her another chance…only to realize how wonderful Mrs. Shelley really is…even if she isn’t Miss Martin.
“Cailloodles”
Jeffrey and Jason are having fun making up silly names for their classmates. But they don’t realize they’re hurting others’ feelings. Caillou isn’t sure what to do – until a chat with Daddy inspires him to speak up and tell Jeffrey and Jason how he feels. When the twins realize their jokes aren’t funny to everyone, they decide to stick to calling only each other silly names.
Along with this DVD we were also sent 2 Kate and Mim Mim DVD’s that are also great shows to add to our list of holiday faves! The first one is called, The Mimiloo Zoo, where you get over 60 minutes of adventures and fun with that adorable Kate, Mim Mim and their friends! Together they encounter some pretty amazing creatures. In this DVD you get the following episodes:
“The Mimiloo Zoo”
Kate’s family trip to the zoo is canceled when it starts raining. In Mimiloo, Kate and Mim-Mim help their pals make animals out of bushes. But after two spritzes from Gobble’s presto potion, the animals come alive, and things quickly get a little too wild!
“Kate’s Turtle Drive”
When Kate’s ant farm breaks, she wonders how to get the ants back in their home. In Mimiloo, Lily has found hatching humming turtle eggs! Cowgirl Kate must find a way to round up the baby humming turtles and lead them to their mama in the Singing Seas.
“Lily and the Unicorn”
Kate is looking for fireflies, but they keep flying away without lighting up. In Mimiloo, Kate, Mim-Mim, and Tack’s Sniffer Finder, a rambunctious robot dog, help Lily look for her favorite magical animal, a unicorn, by tracking its favorite food – shimmer flowers!
“To Catch a Critter”
Enchanted by its hopping, Kate captures a grasshopper, but as soon as it’s in the jar, it stands still. In Mimiloo, Kate and Mim-Mim help Lily and Boomer try to capture some amazing new Mimiloo critters to learn all about them.
“Follow the Leader”
A bird has flown into Kate’s house, and Kate has an idea to get it out – but her parents can’t hear her over the commotion. In Mimiloo, a group of lemmings are in trouble and decide that Mim-Mim is their leader. They ask him to find them a new home – but a soft-spoken little lemming has a great idea herself!
“Kittens & Mittens”
While Kate and Mom are looking after a box of kittens, the box tips and they run all over the house. In Mimiloo, a flurry of mitty kats have overtaken Lily and Boomer’s house! Kate cleverly spots something they can use to round up the mitty kats and lead them home to the Winter Waterfalls.
Then to help bring in that holiday spirit to our family movie nights, we found the DVD, Kate and Mim Mim A Christmas Wish, to be a great addition! In this DVD you get some great episodes that include holiday themed adventures! You get the following 3 episodes along with a bonus music video:
“A Christmas Wish” (extended adventure)
It’s a stormy Christmas Eve and Kate worries that Dad won’t get home in time to put the star on the Christmas tree. In Mimiloo, Kate tells her friends all about Christmas, and everyone is excited to send a wish to Santa Claus. But when Tack’s letter launcher malfunctions, it looks like Christmas will be ruined!
“Snow Bowling”
Kate wants to build a snow fort, but there isn’t enough snow in the yard. In Mimiloo, Kate and her friends go snow bowling in the Winter Waterfalls. They use snowballs as bowling balls and snowmen for the pins. But when the gang slides down into an ice cave, Kate will have to think creatively to help them escape.
“Chilly the Snowman”
Kate’s sad because her snowman is melting! In Mimiloo, it is a sweltering hot day so Kate, Mim-Mim, and their friends head to the Winter Waterfalls to cool down – only to find that all the ice is melting! To re-freeze the waterfalls, Kate will have to find Chilly the snowman who keeps the Winter Waterfalls cold, snowy, and frozen.
Which in all, makes these 3 DVD’s great additions to add to your lists of family favorites to watch this season!
