When it comes to the kids and the holidays, as a parent, I enjoy seeking out gifts that can offer ways to help engage them in educational play. Like many parents, I have learned that when it comes to some of that playtime that offers an educational aspect, technology seems to play a big role. I mean, there are so many great apps and programs out there that are not only fun for the kids to engage with, but that also help when it comes to learning as well. And in my home with my kids, they enjoy the screen time they earn and enjoy playing on the various educational sites and apps that we have set up for them. The thing is, when it comes to that screen time, as a parent, I want my kids to only have access to safe sites and such. So when we were sent the PBS KIDS Playtime Pad to review, I was curious to see how it worked and also add it to this years holiday gift guide!
PBS KIDS Playtime Pad, My Review:
First off, I found the PBS KIDS Playtime Pad to be very simple to set up. I was able to take it out of the box, take off the protective plastic film then turn it right on. Once it was on, I chose to go with the parent mode which allowed me to then go in, set up the WiFi, and create a parent account. I found that once I did that, I could add my preschooler to the tablet and he could right away begin playing! This is because this tablet is designed for kids age 2 and up, and is preloaded with 120 music, video and music video clips along with over 25 educational games and apps that are ready to be accessed even when we are on the go since the apps do not require a WiFi connection! I also really like that this tablet is made to be kid-friendly, with bumper guards that give my preschooler not only something he can easily grip onto but that also help to protect his tablet if he drops it.
Then when it comes to online safety, I like that I can approve and block content easily through the parental controls. I can even manage the apps and set the times limits on the tablet, allowing my son to not only get the educational aspect that this tablet has to offer but also keep him safe while online! Which for me, makes the PBS KIDS Playtime Pad a great choice to go with when seeking a tablet for your preschoolers to use and also a great gift to give this coming holiday season!
