Summer is here and with that I find that the time for having those outdoor gatherings with friends and family is upon us. Like many, we enjoy the summer days and nights, where we can take our fun outdoors for a picnic, enjoying company, great food and drinks. And like many, I look forward to the events where creating delicious dishes to share is a must. So with National Michelada Day, which is on July 12th, on my list of celebrations this summer, I am not only looking forward to mixing it up with friends, but also creating Michelada inspired dishes to enjoy as well.

To get started with creating the drinks and dishes to make our Michelada Day fun a success, I headed to my local Walmart. While at Walmart, I was able to find the Clamato I needed for mixing those Micheladas within the juice aisle. I also found a great selection of deli products from the Walmart Deli to create the dishes to pair with our Micheladas. When we got home, I began creating my menu right away, where along with adding the traditional Michelada to our line up, I also added a refreshing and delicious Frozen Michelada to the drink menu. And to pair along with the Frozen Micheladas, I decided to make a wing and cheddar stuffed jalapeños casserole, using the cheddar stuffed jalapeños and wings that I found at the Walmart Deli.

To make your own Frozen Michelada’s as you celebrate National Michelada Day with friends and family, you will need to head to your local Walmart store and purchase the following ingredients:

Clamato Original flavor, 64 ounce

Your favorite Mexican beer (1 can = 2 Micheladas)

Limes

Chili Powder

Sugar

Salt

English sauce

Hot Sauce

1 cup Ice for 2 Micheladas

Watermelon Sliced into Triangular Wedges

Following is for 2 servings:

Once you have your ingredients ready to create your own Frozen Micheladas you will need to add 1 cup of ice, 6 oz of Clamato, 1 can of beer, 3 tablespoons of lime juice or 2 juiced limes, 1 teaspoon English sauce, 1/2 teaspoon hot sauce in blender and blend until ice is crushed.

For prepping the rim on the glass:

Mix 1 tablespoon chili powder, 1 tablespoon salt, 1 tablespoon sugar on a plate. Take glass and use 1 lime wedge to wet brim of glass, then roll the brim in the salt mix. For an extra kick, sprinkle salt and chili mix on watermelon wedges.

Pour Frozen Michelada in glass and garnish with a watermelon slice and enjoy!

To pair along with the Frozen Micheladas this National Michelada Day, you will want to make the wing and cheddar stuffed jalapeños casserole. For this casserole you will need the following ingredients which can be found at your local Walmart and Walmart Deli:

Ingredients:

1 lb Cheddar Stuffed Jalapeños (found in Walmart Deli)

1 lb Boneless Chicken Wings (found in Walmart Deli)

1 box elbow noodles

1 15 oz jar alfredo sauce

1 cup shredded Colby-Jack cheese

(ranch dressing optional for topping)

Preheat oven to 400ºF. Boil noodles on stove top and shred the boneless chicken wings. Once noodles are cooked, drain and mix in the alfredo sauce along with the shredded chicken wings. Take the mix and add to casserole dish. Top the casserole mix with the cheddar stuffed jalapeños, placing them evenly on the top. Sprinkle shredded cheese. Cover casserole with foil and place in oven, bake for 10 minutes. Then once done, serve topped with a drizzle of the optional ranch dressing and enjoy!

So as you prepare to celebrate National Michelada Day this year with your friends and family, be sure to head to your local Walmart where you can find the ingredients you need to create a Frozen Michelada along with the deli items to make a wing and cheddar stuffed jalapeños casserole.
