Family Friendly Dining at Claim Jumper

Finding places to take the family when we head out for dinner is something that I enjoy seeking out. I like finding those new places, trying them out, and adding them to our list of family favorites. Well along with having the options on where to go, I also like to find the places that offer great menu options, allowing us to not only head there for family dinners but also for those date nights such as Valentines Day. So when we were given the chance to head to our local Claim Jumper to check out some of their menu items, I was excited to add it to our list of family friendly restaurants and also share our experience with our readers.

Upon arrival, we were greeted by friendly staff in the rustic, almost cabin style themed restaurant. The table and decor was very nice, giving us a lodge style setting that is both family friendly as well as giving you a romantic ambiance, and after being seated we were served some great drinks which included strawberry lemonade for the kids and a very tasty and refreshing cocktail called the Hendrick’s White Linen. Once we had a chance to look over the menu, we were served a loaf of bread that had a buttery garlic and cheese flavor to it, then ordered our meals along with some of the appetizers. We found the starters were amazing, which in my experience, is always a great indicator for what to expect for the rest of the meal!

After our starters were served, the kids found the appetizer platter to give them a great selection of tasty starters to choose from, and my husband and I found the calamari to not only have that perfect consistency in the texture, but also have the right amount flavor as well. We also found the soups that they brought us to be amazing, giving us warm soups that were just what we needed to prepare us for the meal ahead.

When the plates for our dinner were brought out, we were all very pleased with the selection, and one dish that really stood out was the Steak and Crab Mash, which is the dish my husband ordered after a suggestion from our wait staff. With the Steak and Crab Mash, my husband was given a very generously sized, 21 oz ribeye, which he was able to have cooked perfectly, to his ideal wellness. Along with the steak that was enough to please anyone who loves a hearty and delicious steak, we found that it was paired with a jumbo lump crab mashed potatoes, that was topped with Swiss cheese, and mouthwatering chipotle and cilantro sauces that brought a flavor that complimented the dish.

Then, to help complete our meal, we were brought some amazing desserts from the selection of homemade desserts that you can find at the Claim Jumper restaurants. The two we went with included the Chocolate Motherlode Cake, which has an amazing 6 layers of a moist, decadent chocolate cake, a mouthwatering rich chocolate fudge and topped with walnuts. Along with this cake that was more than enough to feed our table and then some, we were also brought the Berry Butter Cake. With the Berry Butter Cake, you get a dessert that reminds me of a take on a strawberry shortcake that literally beats all strawberry shortcakes I have had. The cake is a warmed cream cheese butter cake that is topped with vanilla ice cream, strawberry sauce and fresh berries, giving you a melt in your mouth dessert that has just the right amount of tartness needed from the berries. Which when you take and put it all together, made our experience at our local Claim Jumper restaurant one that we not only added to our list of family favorites, but also a restaurant that we will be adding to our list of date night favorites for any occasion including Valentines Day!
