With the holidays coming and those holiday meals in the works, we find that as we celebrate with little ones, that things can get a little messy. I have found that the holidays can also bring a lot of firsts for babies, like that first taste of pumpkin puree, and with that we find that exploring those new foods and firsts can be messy. Babies like to explore with their hands, they touch, throw and squeeze things, and I know when my little ones try new foods, they like to taste it after putting their hands in it. So when it comes to those messes, those firsts of trying new things over the holidays, I like to have the line of laundry products from Dreft on hand.
See with little ones, messes are a given. I mean, we can head out for a day at the park to find that they go right for the mud, and I have learned that it is not just my kids who find that they are attracted to the messiest situations either. In fact that when it comes to things like mud and ways to make messes, kids are drawn to it and seem to know that they will have fun. The thing is, when it comes to things like squishing the foods, playing in the dirt, and making mud, it is proven that it is also quite therapeutic as well, helping to calm and soothe them and make them happier!
I also find that when it comes to the clean up of the messes we make, that Dreft is a staple in my home. I can appreciate that when I use the products from Dreft that they are effective in getting the messes out of clothing and linens, but are gentle on babies skin. I also like knowing that when it comes to Dreft, like many pediatricians, my own Dr has recommended the use of Dreft Detergents for cleaning babies clothes and blankets because Dreft is gentle and hypoallergenic. And when it comes to messes, I like that doctors like Dr. Dyan Hes recommends that parents embrace the messes, by counting food with baby using fingers, playing in the bath with some splashing and toys, and taking them outside to let them explore and get messy as they do it!
Another plus is knowing that when it comes to messes, no one is immune and Dreft was out to prove this when they teamed up with Molly Sims, who has 2 little ones of her own and another on the way! On October 25th, Actress Molly Sims got a little messy while she hung out with a group of little ones. She did this to help launch the new contest as the search starts for, Dreft’s America Messiest Baby during the Dreft Messy Play Date Party in New York City.
This contest is one that parents can enter and one where the people from Dreft decided that parents everywhere should celebrate those messes. They have teamed up with Parent’s Magazine to create the Messiest Baby Contest. 1st birthday party. We made carrot cake cupcakes for his celebration. He looked at it dubiously as we put it before him. I'll add that it was his first cupcake. He played with it a bit then wiped his messy hand up to his mouth. That was all it took to move cupcake to mouth, nose, eyes, ears and hair. And then the immediate more-more sign. I'm not sure we ever got all the cake out of the carpet over there.
