As we get back into those school year routines, we find that the whole transition can be somewhat overwhelming. We go from later bed times, late mornings, and go with the flow type summer routines to those early bed times, early mornings, and schedules that can keep us going from one place to another during the days. So like many, I like to find ways that can help to make the back to school transition a little easier. I do this by having the kids lunches packed the night before, clothes put out to be put on in the morning, and creating menus each week that will fit in with our busy schedules.
When I create those menus, I do so on Sundays, where I can pull out our schedules, then come up with menus that will go with the daily schedules which allow me to allocate the times I need to create each meal. Once I have that menu in hand, I like to head out to my local grocery store, like Safeway, where I can find the ingredients I need to pull those dishes together. While at Safeway, I can find a great selection of Nestlé products that range from the Stouffer’s entrees to the NESTLÉ® TOLL HOUSE® Refrigerated Cookie Dough and candy products like the NESTLÉ® Fun Size BUTTERFINGER®.
And one meal that I enjoy creating when I pick up the STOUFFER’S® Party Size Entrées Mac & Cheese is a tuna casserole that is simple to put together and something that the whole family can enjoy. Along with the tuna casserole we also like to make NESTLÉ® Chocolate Chip Cookie Butterfinger Bombs by picking up some NESTLÉ® TOLL HOUSE® Refrigerated Cookie Dough and the NESTLÉ® Fun Size BUTTERFINGER®.
The tuna casserole with the STOUFFER’S® Mac & Cheese is fairly simple to put together. To get started you will need to head to your local Safeway store and pick up:
2 Cans Tuna (with water strained out)
1/4 cup Chives
1-2 cups of crushed crackers for topping
STOUFFER’S® Party Size Entrées Mac & Cheese
Thaw the STOUFFER’S® Party Size Entrées Mac & Cheese in the fridge by putting it in there first thing in the morning.
Preheat oven as directed on box. Once oven is ready place the Mac & Cheese in and cook for 15 minutes. Take out of oven and mix in the tuna and chives in the Mac & Cheese, and cook for another 15 minutes. Take the Mac & Cheese out again and add the crushed crackers on the top then cook for another 15 minutes, giving you a total 45 minutes of cook time. Serve and enjoy!
Then for dessert we like to make the NESTLÉ® Chocolate Chip Cookie Butterfinger Bombs. For these you will need to pick up the following at your local Safeway:
NESTLÉ® TOLL HOUSE® Refrigerated Cookie Dough
1 pack of the NESTLÉ® Fun Size BUTTERFINGER®
1 can of non stick cooking spray
To get started preheat the oven as directed on the cookie dough package. We use a mini muffin pan which we spray non stick cooking spray on. Once the non stick spray is on, get the cookie dough, cut the log into slices like you would for baking cookies. Put each cookie dough piece in the slots of the pan and place a NESTLÉ® Fun Size BUTTERFINGER® in the middle then wrap the candy up in the cookie dough. Place in the oven and bake as directed on the cookie dough package or until the cookies are golden brown. Let cool, serve and enjoy!
Which with this meal as well as others you can create from the NESTLÉ® line up of STOUFFER’S® products and the NESTLÉ® TOLL HOUSE® Refrigerated Cookie Doughs, a great choice to go with as you create those back to school menus!
