I participated in an Influencer Activation on behalf of Influence Central for the Cigna Foundation, in partnership with Samahope. I received a promotional item to thank me for my participation.
When we find out that we are expecting, as moms to be, we begin setting up our prenatal appointments and also begin creating a birthing plan. We eat healthier, take the vitamins our doctors recommend, and take care of ourselves by staying on top of our health while we are pregnant. For me, I also liked to see the birthing rooms by going on a tour of where I would be delivering, knowing that the delivery would be done in a controlled and sterile environment, but also wanting to see the beds and meet the staff as well. This might seem to be a given for most of us, but in places where the healthcare, prenatal care, and childbirth resources are limited or non existent, the prenatal health and childbirth can be hazardous for both babies and moms.
The reality of it is that in places around the world, the resources are not there. So when it comes to the question on how I can make a difference so other women have the same chance at a safe pregnancy and delivery, I like knowing that I can help by supporting Samahope through the Cigna Foundation.
With Samahope, they help to make it possible to allow anyone, anywhere to directly fund doctors when it comes to the much needed life saving and life changing medical treatments for women and children who are in need. And with the support of the Cigna Foundation, they aim to help those in need get the help they need regardless of ethnicity, race, gender, age, geography or economics. The aim for this year’s Cigna Foundation World of Difference grant to Samahope is to help by going in to train the nurses as well as get the doctors the money they need for supplies, in India, so together they can provide treatment and surgery for people in need.
This year, with their campaign, they have a goal to save 10,000 lives, by helping the lives of 5,000 babies and 5,000 moms in need! They aim to do this by providing the moms in need with birth kits, so they too can have a chance at having safe deliveries when it comes to bringing their precious babies into this world!
So now that you know what Samahope can do, and what the goal is for this year alone, the question would be, how can you help. The answer is simple, because with just a $5 donation, Samahope can fund a birth kit that will have sterile tools to give to a Skilled Birth Attendant, allowing them to help protect both the mother and baby from any life threatening complications that can occur during childbirth.
