Game Plan for the Mind, Body, and Soul with the Triple Play

I participated in an Influencer Activation on behalf of Influence Central for Boys & Girls Club of America. I received a promotional item to thank me for my participation.

In my house when it comes to finding ways to keep my kids active and healthy, I like to seek out ways that can help with also enhancing their mind, body, and soul. We enjoy watching our kids play in sports, going outdoors to go hiking, finding fun activities while outdoors, and finding fun games to play indoors. We also like finding ways to ensure our kids are eating healthy and are staying hydrated. So when we were told about the Boys and Girls Club of America Triple Play, which is on its 10th year, we were excited to check out the information and incorporate some of the ideas for a game plan in our home for the mind, body, and soul into some fun family time!

The Triple Play is a great way to get kids healthy and active, and help to reduce the obesity population in our youth, so they can grow to have healthy and happy lifestyles in the future. Because in the US alone, it is a fact that 3 in 10 kids are overweight or obese, so now is a great time to encourage our kids and teens to become active and make healthier choices. For our kids, we learned that they need to participate in moderate to vigorous physical activity for at least 60 minutes per day. We also learned that only about 1/4 of the youth in the US ages 12-15 are meeting that recommendation, so to get started, we began with working with our kids on Healthy Habits. With the Triple Play program along with the support from partners that include The Coca-Cola Company and Amerigroup Foundation for the Triple Play program, Boys and Girls Clubs America aim to help build our kids into the next generation of leaders.

With our kids in sports, they not only need to eat healthy foods and snacks, but we also need to ensure that they are staying hydrated. Along with ensuring they are staying hydrated we also found that adding more fruits, grains, and vegetables can help with ensuring they are eating a good well balanced diet throughout the day. Now, when we are at home, I can overlook the items that my kids are eating, but when they are at school or at a friends house, I can not be there to ensure they are eating the right foods. So we came across the “What’s The 411? Relay” game, which can be found on the Parents Game Plan, we found fun game to play with the kids and help them to be more aware of what are and are not good choices when it comes to the foods they eat.

For finding those activities for the body, we found that going on fun hikes and adding a scavenger hunt in the mix is something everyone can enjoy. Hiking is considered to be a moderate intensity, and is a great activity for us to take advantage of up here in the Pacific Northwest! In fact, when you look over the free downloadable Parents Game Plan, you can find various activities for the whole family, that can help with improving the body.

Then when it comes to strengthening the soul, we found some great fun games, that help to strengthen relationships and increase confidence! With the group of games that were suggested on the Parents Game Plan, we found that the Push with your Nose game was a lot of fun for the kids to play! Which in all, helped to make the Triple Play a program that we found to not only be fun, but a program that has helped to improve our family’s health and well being. So if you and your family would like to find the tools and activities that can help you and your kids so they grow into healthier and more responsible adults when it comes to avoiding risky behaviors, be sure to download your free copy of the Parents Game Plan today!
