In my life, I have always been taught that when it comes to being a woman, there are no limits to what we can achieve. I come from a line of women who are all motivated to achieve goals in life, and not stop there. With my own mother, she is a college professor, who started out as a substitute teacher and followed her dreams to get to where she is at now with her PHD. I have always been told to do what I believe I can do, then go further, and that same drive is something I instill into my own kids, which includes my daughter.
Now when it comes to ways to encouraging STEM with my sons, it can be fairly simple since there are plenty of toys that encourage science and exploration, but when it comes to girls, finding those toys that do the same can be a bit harder. My daughter, being a girly girl, adores her dolls and playing with them, but she is also a girl who loves science and technology, so when we were told about a new line of dolls that are due to come out in the near future, we were excited to learn more about them.
The dolls I am talking about are called the iBesties, and unlike other fashion dolls out there, these dolls are aimed at encouraging girls to be bright and inquisitive and also believe that anything is possible! The idea behind the dolls is to help build confidence and dream the dreams that have girls reaching for the stars.
I like that aside from the dolls that will be included in the iBesties line, you will also be able to collect the books that tell the stories that these dolls are based from. There will also be a line of t-shirts for the whole family which all together, help to promote the dreams of young girls so they can be a future CEO and more.
Then when it comes to the motivation behind these dolls, I like that they take the statistics that are out there, showing that less than 5% of the Fortune 500 CEO’s are women. And when it comes to technology and the fields that are available for career choices, only about 25% of computer scientists are women. Making the iBesties a line of dolls that is aimed at changing those statistics, so girls can see that they can enter STEM fields, run their own business’s and even become CEO’s and become a generation of female moguls!
