With the holiday season upon us, I am one who gets very excited. I find that I like to put up decorations both indoors and outdoors, and I not only have a collection that I have been building over the years, but I enjoy adding to it each year. This year, since we will be hosting Christmas for my family at our house, I find that having the decor and tableware for meals, is ideal. And to get started, I found myself decorating our sitting room and dinning room table.
When it comes to the living room area, I like to add holiday decor not only to the mantles and windows, but also to my couches and walls. I find that going with a color theme that not only reminds me of the holidays, but will also go with the furniture is ideal. So to get started, I went to Target to pick up some red decorative pillows and a garland. Along with the garland, I found some Command Damage Free hangers that were clear, so I can hang the garland and not have the hooks be noticeable. I also like that with the Command hangers, I can use them for hanging up decor and hanging up the lights, and when the holidays are over, I can easily remove the hooks without ruining my walls.
Now the garland I went with is one that can be hung in different areas, but the kids and I decided that one of the walls in our living area needed some holiday decor on it, so we hung it there. With the pillows, I found the red ones were not only a great color for the season, but I like how they look on our black couches! I found that adding the pieces that I came across while I was shopping at Target, not only helped to add some holiday cheer to our living room, but they also blended well together.
Aside from decorating the living room, I also find that bringing the dinning room into the mix makes those holiday meals that much more festive. Now over the past few years I have used a mistletoe designed serving collection when serving our holiday meals. So when I looked over the options for decorating the table with, I was very pleased to come across a mistletoe table runner. I like that when I place out the dinnerware set that I have, the runner looks as if it was made to go with the set. Then by adding the red place mats, red napkins, and the napkin rings to the place settings for the table set up, really helped make the table look more festive once it was set!
Another item that I like to add our tables, at any time of the year, that I also like to have go with certain themes and my taste is the centerpiece. So when I came across the wicker tree with silver bobbles on it, I knew I had found my centerpiece! I like that it is not only a Christmas tree to use for decor, but with the wicker look, and the bobbles, I find that it goes with the rest of the decor in my dinning room, bringing the room with the holiday set up and my other decor together!
In all, I found that when it comes to decorating for the holidays, that going with themes that can bring each room together, and even flow throughout the home, can really bring that festive holiday spirit into any home!
