It's A Girl!

So I have been a little delayed in getting some posts up, over here at Mommy Katie, we have been a little busy. A little 5 lbs and 14 oz busy that is! Welcome the newest member of the Mommy Katie family, she was born early Wednesday morning and is just as sweet as can be!

Alyssa is my niece, and I was so blessed to be there and be a part of her birth. The delivery was a smooth one, and my sister in law did well for her first delivery. Alyssa is a new part of our family, and will be included in many fun baby posts to come!!

This little girl is very special to our family, for many reasons. As many of you know, who have been following me over the years, my husband was adopted. He has 6 biological siblings, and of the 6, he and 3 of the youngest siblings were all adopted by the same family. My sister in law, is my husband’s youngest biological sibling, making Alyssa a very special little girl and a baby girl who will always hold a very special place in our hearts over here at Mommy Katie!

Being there from the time my sister in law found out she was pregnant, and being able to be in the room during the delivery, was an amazing experience. I have had my own babies, but I have never witnessed another birth from start to finish.

Now we have some other very sweet and adorable nieces and nephews from my husband’s adoptive siblings who are also very special kids, and we love. But seeing and holding her was an experience unlike any other, she not only looks like my sister in law, but I also see my husband, our kids, and their biological mom in her. My husband has 2 other nieces that we found out about last year from one of his brothers, but none of the other siblings that we know of, have any children, so for those who know what it is like for adopted children, being able to see, hold and be there for a baby who is a part of them is an emotion like no other! I not only felt the instant love for this baby girl, but seeing my husband hold her was a special moment for all of us.

I will be getting more posts up shortly and winners emailed. Just been a little preoccupied with this little beauty!

Such a sweet story. Thanks for sharing it with us. My daughter often talks about how much she loves her brother's daughter and how, before she was born, she couldn't understand when her friends talked about how much they loved their nieces and nephews. Now she understands it.
