4 Best Green Gadgets for Your Kitchen (Guest Post)

There are plenty of reasons to use green appliances around your
kitchen and home. Besides being good for the environment, these
products can save you time, money, and space because of their
efficiency. Check out this list of green gadgets that will make your
kitchen more environmentally friendly.

Indoor Composter

One way to go green in the kitchen is by rethinking how you throw
away your garbage. After all, landfills are a growing environmental
problem, and everyone should do their part to figure out how to
create less waste.

With an indoor composter like the PRO
XE Compost Bin
, your food waste can end up in your garden instead
of your trash can. This portable gadget composts most foods, turning
would-be garbage into nourishment for your plants. An indoor
composter is great for the environment, saves money on fertilizer,
and may even qualify you for discounted trash collection with some
companies. Do some research to figure out what food products are best
for your garden.

Green Tea Kettle

Everyone enjoys a good cup of tea, but many people don’t realize
how wasteful it can be to make one. After all, every ounce of boiled
water that goes unused is a waste of valuable energy.

Green tea kettles such as the Eco
Kettle 2
solve this problem, by using exactly as much water as
you need to boil one cup of tea. The rest of its 1.5 liter capacity
remains stored for later, meaning it uses about 31% less energy by
cutting down on wasted heat. It’s a great gadget for saving time and
money at tea time.

Portable Induction Cooker

Conventional stove tops can be an enormous waste of energy. Much
of the heat from gas and electric stoves is lost before it reaches
your cookware, meaning it ends up warming your kitchen instead of
your food. Conventional stoves are also dangerous, because the lost
heat they give off can start a kitchen fire from things like clothing
and cooking oil.

You can avoid both of these problems by using a portable induction
cooker. Devices such as the Total
Chef Induction Cooker
transfer electromagnetic heat straight to
the cookware, meaning they can save energy and keep your
apron from catching on fire. Of course, no stove top cooker is 100%
safe, so you should still make sure you have home
owner’s insurance
to protect yourself from accidents.

Mini Microwave

Microwaves are a great way to save energy on cooking, but what
about a micro microwave?

The iWavecube
is the perfect green gadget for heating up food. Unlike a
regular-sized microwave that uses between 900 and 1200 watts, this
portable device uses no more than 600 watts of energy at any time.
Additionally, the small design of the iWavecube means that it’s only
12 lbs, and measures 12 inches or less in every dimension. It’s the
perfect gadget to save money and space in any kitchen.

If you want to save the environment, the kitchen is one of the
best places to start. Use some of these gadgets to make your kitchen
a greener place.

I don't know if I could deal with any smells or flies that may come with an indoor composter, but I love the others. Especially the portable induction cooker. I would love to get one of those!

I'm with Robin Wilson and not sure I could do composting. The cooking gadgets like the microwave and induction cook top both are intriguing to me. I like the idea of not having to use a conventional oven but still having that home-cooked taste.Sherry Compton
