The Summer season is upon us, and in my house we have birthdays that will be celebrated this Summer. School will be over for us at the end of this next week and Robert’s birthday is the following week, so we have decided that we will be doing his party with his friends this coming weekend. We are going to do his class party tomorrow, so to prepare for a Summer time birthday party in his class, we wanted to do something fun. We were sent some great ideas from the wonderful people at Betty Crocker, and one that not only Robert liked, but that we all liked was the Betty Crocker Easy Ice Cream Cone Birthday Cakes recipe. Now, when it comes to baking, I am not so crafty, so I do rely on these step by step directions, which were very easy to follow. I also had my husband in the kitchen who wanted to help out with the whole process. First thing we had to do was go out and get the ingredients. We bought a box of the Betty Crocker SuperMoist Party Rainbow Chip Party Mix, some vegetable oil and eggs for the cake mix, then some frosting and some fun toppings which included fruit, nuts, sprinkles, and even some spray paint stuff that we found that looked like fun! We also bought some rainbow colored flat bottomed ice cream cones!!
Once it was time to start preparing everything, I found the whole process to be very easy. We got out our cupcake pans and I sprayed some of my non-stick cooking spray on them. I then preheated the oven. Once all of that was done, it was time to start mixing the batter for the cupcakes.
I followed the recipe on the box and cooked the cupcakes just like it said on the box. Once they were done I let them cool. The kids were very excited to help with the decorating process, so once they were cooled down, I put the cupcakes in the ice cream cones, then I put the icing on them and after I decorated a couple of them, the kids came in and decorated the rest. I am going to have to admit, the spray on graffiti was a lot of fun! I know that whatever toppings you go with, you can make it fun!
The Ice Cream Cone Birthday Cakes came out amazing and we had a lot of fun making them as a family, I also know that the kids will enjoy eating them tomorrow when we take them to the class for the party!!!
So this Summer when you are planning a birthday party or any kind of fun Summer party, check out the great cake ideas from Betty Crocker and make your party one to remember!!
This was a sponsored post and honest/original opinions were used and they are my own. Thank you to the company and/or pr agency who sponsored this post and sent me the great baking ideas to inspire my story!!
these are so cool! ive always wanted to try making them!
These look so good mine and my 2 daughters b-days are coming up i will have to make these
Funny reading this because I had been thinking about making these. The recipe I saw online was one where you actually poured the batter in muffin cups then sat your cones on top of them to bake. So I'm glad to see this because I don't have the muffin pans but I do the cupcake pans and they look awesome. I want to do it just to let my grandson have fun and he will love these. Did they go into the cones rather easily or was that a bit more difficult? Thanks for sharing Katie!
