Discover Fan Loyalty Poll: ‘Ferris Bueller’s Day Off’ Not in the Cards for Most College Football Fans

We may be OU Football fans, but when asked the question on if we would take the Ferris Bueller approach when it comes to whether or not we would take off to see our team play, I think we would pass. When it comes to that question, I think that if you have a family then the money that would be made to support your family that day would outweigh a football game, especially in this economy and I would not want to jeopardize my job either, but that is my opinion. Well that is where our Discover Fan Loyalty Poll lies for this week. When fans were asked if they would take the day off if they had tickets to see their favorite team play, 70 percent said that they would tell their boss the truth and ask for the day off, while 15 percent said that they would not accept the tickets. Then with the remaining 10 percent, 6 percent said that they would sell the tickets and 4 percent said that they dont know what they would do. However, 19 percent of college football fans said that they would invite their boss to the game if their boss was a diehard fan of the opposing team. I personally think that if my boss was a fan of either the opposing or my team, I might bring it up to see what my boss might think about going to the game. If the boss was a diehard fan for either team, and said that they would jump on the chance to go to the game, then I might mention that I had the tickets, but with the games being on the weekends, missing that weekend differential might still put that thought that the money means more for my family than for me to see my game and I might just give my boss the tickets to earn some brownie points and maybe some overtime hours!

See below for additional stats detailing the percentage of fans who would call in sick if they had tickets to watch their favorite team plan on a work day:
