Dinning in Amarillo: Joe Taco, Macaroni Joe's and Cattle Call Review

There are a lot of people who travel through Amarillo, and I am sure that when they come here they would like to be able to stop and get a bite to eat. But the question is where should they go, right? Well I recently had the chance to review some really great local restaurants, and if someone were to ask me where, my question to them would be whether they were in the mood for Mexican, BBQ or Italian. I think I would also ask how long they will be staying in Amarillo, because if they will be here for a couple of days, I can refer them to several really great restaurants. I have and will continue to tell my friends and family about these great restaurants as well.

I am going to start by telling you about Joe Taco. I am seriously hooked on Joe Taco. I love avocados, and they have these amazing stuffed avocados that are just to die for!!! You can choose from several different meats and sauces to put on your avocado, and let me tell you, I have tried all of the meats and sauces and they are all amazing!! We decided to go and do a dinner review. I love that when you walk up to the front door, there are patio tables and chairs in the front and a live band playing. Then when you get inside you are greeted by very friendly staff. The atmosphere is very fun but relaxing. You can enjoy some really great Mexican food while enjoying some music. My husband went with the Joe T’s Combo and loved every bite!! I of course went with my fave, the stuffed avocados, and I was very pleased, as always!!!

The next restaurant we went to and did a dinner review at was Macaroni Joe’s. We decided to do this review for our anniversary. Macaroni Joe’s is a fine Italian dining restaurant with an amazing wine selection of over 300 different wines to choose from. The decor puts you in a classic Italian Villa. When you walk in you are greeted by a very nice and professional hostess. Once you are at your table you are greeted by a Sommelier who can pick a wine for you that will fit your tastes. All you have to do is tell your Sommelier what you are looking for, what flavors you look for in wine, then he will bring some wine to sample so you can make sure you get the wine that fits your taste!! We went with a Sangria that was mixed for us and was just perfect!! For our meal I decided to go with one of my personal Italian favorites, the Chicken Parmesan Ricotta. The sauce was just amazing, the flavors were perfectly balanced so you got that dance in your mouth perfection in a pasta sauce. The chicken was cooked to perfection and was so juicy. I fell in love all over again with my favorite Italian dish. Then my husband went with the Tilapia with Mango Salsa. His plate looked divine, the salsa was so fresh and full of flavor. The Tilapia was also cooked to perfection. He was kind enough to let me get a taste and I was just amazed on how much flavor there was. The mango salsa had the perfect amount of spice that gave it that kick you look for in a salsa. The waiter we had was very professional, and went above and beyond my expectations in a waiter. He was very knowledgeable, very attentive, and very friendly. He described the dishes with such passion and detail, as if he owned the restaurant and was going to personally cook for us, which made it easy to make our choices off the menu. Since it was our anniversary, he offered us a dessert on the house. We decided to go with the bread pudding, which came highly recommended to us. One bite and I was in heaven. I have had bread pudding in many different cities and many different restaurants, but never have I had a bread pudding as delectable as this one was. It was served in a skillet, and was boiling hot with creamy ice cream on top. The sauce was out of this world. There are no words that I can write that can truly give it justice, it is just one of those things that you have to try for yourself. In all, this was so far the best anniversary dinner we have ever had and it is one that I will not forget!!

For the review at Cattle Call, we decided that we would do lunch there. We went on a Thursday and both decided to go with one of our favorites that was the special for the day! We had the Chicken Fried Chicken. So yummy and so flavorful. I love chicken fried chicken and the chicken was so tender and juicy, perfect!! I know that from other visits we have had there, the barbecue is as good as it smells when you drive up! I dont know how many times I have been across the highway shopping, and when I go out to my car, the smell of fresh bbq from Cattle Call is just something you cant ignore and your stomach tells you to follow your nose! Cattle Call is known for its barbecue and barbecue is just something you have to have when in Texas! In all these three local restaurants are amazing and I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to go somewhere to eat when they are in Amarillo. So whether you live here, near Amarillo or if you will be coming to visit or just coming through Amarillo, stop by one of these amazing restaurants and have a really great meal!!!
