For the past 5 years, Red Robin has held the annual Red Robin Kids’ Cook-Off. This year, as you all know, I was invited to go to the Red Robin Kids’ Cook-Off. Out of all of the entrants, only 10 kids were picked nation wide, to compete in this event. One of the kids happened to be a 10 year old boy from Amarillo, named Zack. Zack had created the Jalapeno Blue Ranch Bacon Burger. Let me tell you, his burger was awesome!! I was so proud of Zack. He did such a good job.
This is a picture of Zack teaching the Red Robin Chefs how to make his amazing burger!!!
Zack made the art of wrapping a Red Robin burger look so easy. He is a pro!!!
Doesnt that burger just look so scrumptious? That burger definitely deserved to make it to the top 10! I cant wait to take my husband to try it at our local Red Robin when they put Zack’s burger on the menu this Spring!! After all I told him about the burger, my husband is very anxious to try this finalist’s burger out!!!!
The night before the competition, I got to meet some really awesome ladies and fellow bloggers!

Here is a pic of the kids with the surprise guest judge, AnnaSophia Robb.
Im telling you, that burger Zack made is just that good!!!! If you want to try his burger, the Red Robin here in Amarillo will be adding it for a limited time in the Spring!!
There were so many great burgers and I know that choosing just one was a very tough decision for the judges.
During the Kids’ Cook-Off Championship, the top 10 kid-chef finalists showed off their culinary skills by making
their gourmet burger recipes in a Food Network-style showdown and presenting them to a panel of judges
including:
• Actress AnnaSophia Robb, the 17-year-old star of films including the upcoming “Soul Surfer” with Dennis
Quaid and Helen Hunt
• Tom Giesen, executive producer of the Food Network’s Unwrapped
• Denver mom blogger of BanteringBlonde.com Fiona Bryan
• NCMEC national safety director Nancy McBride
• And, Red Robin burger experts
Contestants also shared why they thought their burger recipe should win in 100 words or less. Each kid-chef
finalist was judged based on their gourmet burger recipe, essay and overall presentation.
After making a very tough decision, the judges chose Donovan, the creator of the Mt. Vesuvius Burger! This burger is hot in so many ways. Donovan created his own sauce that just explains the name of this great burger! Donovan’s Mt. Vesuvius Burger will be available on the menus of Red Robin Restaurants nationwide this summer! 50 cents of every “Mt. Vesuvius Burger” sold will support the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children’s (NCMEC) child safety efforts.
Like I had said, all of the burgers were great. The kids did a wonderful job and I and everyone else there was very proud of every one of them!!! I had a blast and the competition was awesome! What an experience!!! I almost forgot! If you would like to get the 2010 Kids Cook Off Cookbook, you can download it here:

I had downloaded and posted about those cookbooks and totally forgot about them! I am so glad you posted this to remind me. I was hoping to have my kids make some and then try to come up with their own as a project. It looks like you had a lot of fun. I honestly can't believe that they are just kids, it really is amazing!Danelle
Bet it was fun.
