Home For The Holidays: #win Butterball Giveaway 2 Winners!! CLOSED!!

Since we are having so much fun over here at Mommy Katie giving away items this week for your holiday dinner, Butterball would like to give a little more to my readers! They would like to give 2 of my readers a $15 Gift Coupon to put towards a Butterball Turkey this year!! Yes that is right, Butterball would like to give 2 readers a turkey for their holiday festivities this year!!! Butterball is a household name during the holiday season. They offer some of the best turkeys out there. And once you have cooked your Butterball turkey, you know that when you sit down with your family to feast, you will be biting into a very tasty and juicy turkey!! There are so many different ways to cook your turkey, from roasting to frying to smoking it. And I am sure that if you go with Butterball this year, however you choose to cook your turkey, will be the best way for you and your family!!! The gift coupons are a present to my readers this year, courtesy of Butterball, in honor of the holiday feast!! During the holidays we create memories with our family and friends. I know that one memory my husband will always remind me about would be our first Thanksgiving together as husband and wife. We were going to be hosting dinner for our friends and the night before I had decided to get the desserts going and prepare some of the sides. Well, I had never made a pumpkin pie before. We had friends over and a few of my friends came in the kitchen to keep me and assist with preparations. We were all talking and having a good time while getting stuff together. I had gotten all of the ingredients out that the pumpkin pie recipe had called for and began mixing in ingredients. Once the pie was mixed I poured the batter into the pie crusts. I put the pies in then cooked them, then once they were done I placed them in the fridge. While cooking all of the men kept coming in and out of the kitchen grabbing tastes and smelling things. I was so proud of how my pumpkin pies looked and I was so excited to serve them the next day at the dinner table. The next day we had friends over for Thanksgiving dinner and once we had all eaten I went to get the pies out. I was so excited to serve them and everyone wanted a to try a piece. I plated all of the slices then served them. I sat down then looked around and noticed the room had gone silent and no one was talking. I then took a bite of the pumpkin pie I had made and realized that it was horrible! I started to cry. I then apologized to everyone and insisted they let me get them something different to get that horrible taste out of their mouths. Once we were all done, I went back into the kitchen and read over the recipe. I could not figure out what had gone wrong. Then I looked over and noticed that the sugar was still sealed and had never been opened. I felt like a idiot. I had forgotten to add sugar to the pie then served it to all of our guests. I became extremely emotional and cried. I felt as though I had ruined the whole dinner and everyones Thanksgiving. Little did I know at the time that I was pregnant with our son, so yes I was extra emotional at the time.

I am not sure if this falls under memory or blooper but here it goes. When I turned 18 (long time ago) I was in charge of the first family Thanksgiving Dinner. I bought a bird bigger then we had ever had. Anyhow, I remember my grandmother saying how much time she put into doing this so I started cooking at 2:00am!So my first try had everyone eating THanksgiving early breakfast instead of afternnon meal.Never have lived that one down. So embarrassing!danellejohns at gmail dot com

One year we were having Thanksgiving a few days later than normal, and already in the Christmas Spirit, I made some Cinnamon Hard Candy. I had searched for weeks for the cinnamon oil required. Apparently I didn't stir well or long enough, and then put in a pan that was on a crooked pot holder, so one end of the pan was thicker than the other. AND the thick end got the majority of the cinnamon oil. When my brother ate a piece, it burned his mouth it had sooooo much in it, we thought he'd have to go to the hospital. No one will eat my candy anymore, HAHA.kpuleski at gmail dot comhttp://practicalfrugality.blogspot.com

A few years back I offered to host Thanksgiving dinner. That year was exceptional as the NFL decided to host the Philadelphia Eagles game during my Thanksgiving Dinner. My husbands family are huge Eagles fans and my husband insisted on placing a TV at the end of the table. At least everyone sat down to eat and the table was quiet with exception of the TV.

It's always great to be with family of course but mine has to be that a few years ago around Thanksgiving my mom helped a little ol' lady get something off a shelf at the store and the lady told her the "secret" to making the best turkey ever… Cook it in a brown paper bag, that's it. Seemed strange but we tried it that year and man it makes the best golden brown, moist turkey ever. So thank you mom for being taller than the lady haha and lady for sharing with my mom.disintegratingstarr@hotmail.com

One Thanksgiving, my grandparents came over for dinner and stayed until about 11pm, well it had started snowing while we were enjoying our holiday. When my granddad went out to start the car, it wouldnt start! So my dad goes out to help him and uses his lighter under the hood to see what could be wrong. The battery blew up in his face! Thankfully, the battery was dry and dad ended up going to the hospital, but he wasnt blinded or burned! He was missing eyebrows and eyelashes for awhile though. A memorable Thanksgiving!

Our family was so excited that my sister and brother-in-law were going to drive several hundred miles to spend Thanksgiving with us. But on Wednesday morning, my sister called to say they had hit a deer on the freeway, totalled the car, and her husband was getting stitches in the hospital. We were worried and heartbroken, but would you believe that as soon as Charles got his stitches, he and my sister hopped on a bus and continued their journey? They were tired and kind of beat-up when they arrived, but we took extra special care of them and counted our blessings that they had not suffered worse injuries. A Thanksgiving none of us will ever forget!rosemills (at) bex (dot) net
